DALLAS, February 01, 2016 — A recent study finds student results on Istation’s ISIP assessments can determine a high probability of passing the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness.
Istation reports a study linking student results on Istation assessments with a high probability of passing Texas’ standardized reading test. This study updates Istation’s previous prediction band study completed in March 2014 that tracked student performance on Istation’s Indicators of Progress (ISIP™) assessments and STAAR (State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness) scores. The newest study identifies the cut score of the ISIP Overall Reading Ability Score that can be used to predict whether students will pass the STAAR reading test.
Researchers collected ISIP data and STARR reading tests scores from grades 3-8 during the 2014-2015 school year at a large school district in Texas. They found very strong correlations between both ISIP Reading and STAAR reading test scores across the grade levels. The study’s results show the ISIP cut scores predict with 95 percent confidence whether students will pass along each of the STAAR Level-II phases. Established by STAAR, these phases give districts time to adjust instruction, provide new professional development, increase teacher effectiveness, and close knowledge gaps.
“Istation’s Indicators of Progress provide continuous progress-monitoring assessment and track student progress during and across academic years. That ISIP cut scores can be used to predict passing STAAR scores is great news for the schools we serve,” said Richard H. Collins, Istation Chairman and CEO.
