DALLAS, May 04, 2016 — Istation is pleased to announce that it has been approved by the Ohio Department of Education as a vendor for Ohio’s Third Grade Reading Guarantee program for the 2016-2017 school year.
Recently, Istation was also approved by the department as a vendor of reading assessments for kindergarten through third grade for the 2016-2017 school year.
To qualify as a vendor for Third Grade Reading Guarantee, a company must provide evidence that its program:
- Covers kindergarten through third grade.
- Assesses reading proficiency and identifies deficiencies.
- Provides on-track and not-on-track cut scores for each grade level assessed.
Having met these criteria, Istation is now an option for Ohio school districts to choose for performing comparable reading diagnostics.
“Istation is proud to be recognized as an approved vendor for both the reading diagnostics and for assessments,” said Richard H. Collins, Istation chairman and CEO. “Identifying students who are behind in reading is critical to ensuring they receive the support they need. Istation is excited to partner with districts not only to identify at-risk students but also to help educators deliver quality instruction and help all students achieve their full potential.”
Districts participating in the Third Grade Reading Guarantee program must administer a reading diagnostic assessment to all kindergarten through third-grade students. Districts have the option of using the state-developed diagnostics or a vendor assessment on the department’s approved list of diagnostic assessments.
Istation ISIP™ ER assesses reading ability and identifies deficiencies based on student input. Because the program is computer adaptive, it can measure skills across grade levels. With ISIP ER, an entire class can be assessed in 30 to 40 minutes. Following the assessment, the program immediately generates score reports that can be used to guide instruction and intervention in the classroom.
